Deep in marshland of Louisiana lies the little community of Isle de Jean Charles, home to the Biloxi-Chittimacha-Chotaw tribe. A paradise threatened by erosion, hurricanes and rising sea levels.
Since the 1950‘s the island has lost over 90% of its land. Today only about 50 people still live on the island permanently.
In 2016 the community of Isle de Jean Charles was the first to receive a $48 million grant from the federal government to be used for relocation. But many don‘t want to leave.
